Auckland Zoo is celebrating the birth of a 195cm (6 foot 5 inches) baby giraffe, Stuff reveals, and invites Aucklanders to give the calf a name in coming weeks. The baby appears to have inherited his height from his grandfather Forrest, who features in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest zoo-dwelling giraffe at 5.7 metres (18 foot 8 inches). “Here at the zoo, we’re really proud to be partnering with and supporting the amazing work of Africa’s Giraffe Conservation Foundation to help conserve giraffe,” said Zookeeper Vicky Smith.
