Banning alcohol sports sponsorship will reduce the industry’s capacity to keep recruiting large numbers of boys into heavy drinking as young men, reports Newsroom. “Green Party MP Chlöe Swarbick’s bill to restrict alcohol advertising and sports sponsorship presents an opportunity to do something meaningful, at last, about the harms alcohol inflicts in our communities,” says Peter J. Adams, associate director of the Centre for Addiction Research at the University of Auckland.
