An Auckland Tongan church is being investigated by the The Immigration Advisers Authority for an alleged residency for cash scheme, Stuff reports. Visa overstayers or those wanting residency were told by the church which they attended in Māngere (‘I Laumalie Mo Mo’oni church), that a judge would sign off on their residency if they joined as church members and payed $500. Meanwhile, Immigration Advisers Authority spokesman Duncan Connor noted that anyone who gives immigration advice in this country must be licensed by New Zealand authorities.
