A citizens’ group is pushing for expanded environmental protection in the Hauraki Gulf, Newsroom reports. Thursday saw the submission period begin for a proposed marine reserve in the Hauraki Gulf that would be the first new reserve in the area in 20 years. The public will get a say before it goes in front of Minister of Conservation Kiri Allan in three months.
