Auckland Council is seeking public feedback on a new bylaw which outlines where people can and cannot freedom camp in their vehicles across the region, Stuff reports. Councillor Linda Cooper, chairwoman of the Freedom Camping Bylaw Panel, said while most people made an effort to responsibly, freedom camping had impacts that cause “community concern.” Auckland Council wants to ensure freedom campers “camp responsibly and have a great experience” by staying in suitable places, keeping themselves and others safe, looking after the environment and respecting their host communities and other campers, she said.
