The Transport Agency is looking into potential heavy metal and hydrocarbon contamination, for properties located beside the Auckland Harbour Bridge. RNZ revealed the agency had discovered contamination at Stokes Point a decade ago, but chose not to tell residents. Danielle Grant, deputy chair of the Kaipātiki Local Board, says, “There are families that have lived in the area for decades, and for their peace of mind, there should be an opportunity for their concerns to be heard… The community’s health and safety has to be paramount.”
