Two young Aucklanders are calling on New Zealanders to get behind a global petition to fight discriminatory laws against people with leprosy, after seeing firsthand the devastating impact it’s caused overseas, Stuff reports. Mehi Akauola, 26, and Hannah Davey, 22, were part of a team from Leprosy Mission New Zealand (LMNZ) that visited Nepal in January 2020. The stint came as an eye-opener for the two young Aucklanders, who witnessed the stigma attached to people with leprosy at Anandaban Hospital.
