Auckland lawyer Jesse Seang Ty Nguy has been suspended amid allegations he failed to settle on a client’s property purchase, instead using their funds to pay off other debts, Stuff reports. Among the accusations is an allegation that he used large sums paid into his trust account for a property purchase, to cover the renovation of Devonport property and settle debts with barristers. The Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal has yet to conclude its disciplinary process against Jesse Seang Ty Nguy. But the tribunal, at a March 2 hearing before Judge John Adams, found the facts of his case sufficiently serious to make an interim order immediately suspending him from work as a solicitor. Nguy and his lawyer plan to defend the charge.
