Customers are advised to check the public register of licenced electrical workers before hiring someone for electrical work, Stuff reports, following the sentencing of an Auckland man who claimed he was a registered electrician. Naveen Kumaran was ordered to pay more than $8000 in fines and court costs. “Pretending to be a registered electrical worker and carrying out prescribed electrical work is not only deceitful, but also highly dangerous for everyone involved,” said Duncan Connor, Registrar of Electrical Workers.
