Police have increased patrols in Auckland shopping malls, which have been targets of recent smash and grab raids, Stuff reports. The most recent raid was on a Michael Hill jewellery store in Albany mall on Friday night. One local mother fears that such incidents will make malls unsafe for children. “This isn’t our New Zealand. This isn’t what we’re used to,” she said. In the past 12 months alone, Michael Hill stores in Westgate Mall, Botany Town Centre, Pukekohe, St Lukes Mall and Henderson have each been hit.
