Outgoing Auckland mayor Phil Goff is finding life on the sidelines of a political campaign, for the first time in 40 years, an odd feeling, Stuff reveals. “You hear what’s being said in the debates (for the mayoralty) and you know a fair amount of it is simply factually incorrect, and you really want to get involved,” said Goff, who is retiring after two terms. “If we continue to follow policies that make sense environmentally, that are sustainable, that build the infrastructure we need, that are inclusive, that, you know, bring us together as a community, then we can go on to build a better city for the future and for our kids, and that’s what life’s about.”
