With large-scale events back and fans eager to get to matches, New Zealand is about to host our first Rugby World Cup since 2011, says The Spinoff. The first women’s Rugby World Cup took place in 1991, only four years after the first men’s World Cup. The tournament kicks off on October 8 and runs until November 12, with the Black Ferns playing as defending champions, having won the most recent tournament in 2017.
