Staff from Auckland’s Silverdale Animal Shelter were at the Albany Village Library this week to show children the best ways to interact with dogs, Stuff reports. Albany Village Library’s Sarah Powell said the recent dog attacks (one in Auckland and one in Northland) highlighted an opportunity to improve children’s confidence around dogs, especially as not all children grow up around animals. Almost 500 people have been attacked by dogs in Tāmaki Makaurau since January this year.
