A biannual survey, conducted by Federated Farmers in July, found farmer confidence has dropped below its lowest recorded level, Rural News reports. More than 1,200 farmers from around New Zealand responded to the survey, with 47.8% of them considering current economic conditions to be bad. “What’s also worrying is that for the first time in our survey’s history we’ve recorded a net negative score for production expectations,” says Federated Farmers president Andrew Hoggard.
