The Lilypad was the Big Day Out’s weirdest stage. Now it’s inspired a permanent venue at the festival’s spiritual Auckland home, reports The Spinoff. Scott Couch, head of commercial at Auckland Stadiums, has been trying to open a new multi-purpose venue called Lilyworld, named after the cult Big Day Out stage starring a rotating line-up of wonderful weirdness. Located at Mt Smart Stadium, the new incarnation of Lilyworld will be more family-friendly than its predecessor.
