TVNZ and RNZ to merge into a not-for-profit giant likely to dominate NZ media

Two years after the idea was first floated, communications minister Kris Faafoi has announced that RNZ and TVNZ will be merged, The Spinoff reports. The move creates a new entity that will attempt to move past the organisations’ origins in radio and television to meet the vastly different challenges of the digital media environment. However, the announcement is both a long time coming and still maddeningly light on detail.
