A couple who smuggled the wife out of locked-down Auckland to Rotorua have received a discharge without conviction, Stuff reports. An unnamed associate who was an essential worker was able to smuggle the wife out of Auckland in the back of a truck, as the couple were finding separation due to Covid restrictions stressful. On the day of their planned breach, September 15, 2021, Auckland was in alert level 4 while the rest of the country was in alert level 2.
