In south Auckland at Papakura Marae, just over 30 under 11-year-olds were vaccinated every hour since the gates opened at 10am on Monday, Stuff reports. Māori have taken full advantage of the first official day of Covid-19 vaccinations for children, and more than 3200 children were vaccinated across Auckland on day one, according to the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre (NRHCC). “Traditionally our marae and tribe has been pro-health, so it’s nothing new, and we know the impacts of the pandemics we’ve had in the past so our mātauranga helps us, says Tim Manukau. “It’s about learning from the past and any other knowledge that’s out there.”
