A shark expert has a message – respect great whites and stay away from hot spots, RNZ reports. “It does seem like there’s a persistence and more of a prevalence of juvenile great whites around our northern beaches,” says shark researcher Dr Riley Elliott. As a recreational user of the ocean, Elliot says he got into shark research because he was afraid of them and didn’t understand the animals.
