An Auckland surgeon is set to face a judge – and, if convicted, a potential sentence of up to six months in prison – after he was accused of illegally flying to Christchurch during lockdown, NZ Herald reports. “This charge relates to air travel from Auckland to Christchurch on 25 October 2021 allegedly in breach of Covid travel restrictions,” a police spokesperson said. Court documents allege the flight amounted to intentional non-compliance with the lockdown because he was headed to a different alert level area without an exemption.
