Close to half of nearly 10,000 Aucklanders surveyed by Stuff say they are considering leaving the city for good after a year of lockdowns. Stuff’s NowNext survey was a self-selected, non-scientific poll. It was completed by 9987 people, and 44% of respondents said they were considering moving. Reasons included endless rule-breaking, rising house prices, anti-vaxxers, and concern that the region’s hospitals won’t be able to support other health care needs if they are overwhelmed by Covid cases.
