White Fern number 100 Sue Morris, who grew up in Papakura, South Auckland, has become New Zealand Cricket’s first female match referee, Newsroom reports. Morris first played for Auckland women at 17, with her domestic career spanning 18 years. She says ref work is about managing the game to make sure it’s a positive experience for everyone. NZ Cricket has also established a five-strong women’s umpiring panel to create pathways for women to the professional ranks. And trailblazing wāhine Kim Cotton has been elevated to the national umpire panel – another female first.
