It may be coronavirus alert level 2 in Northland, but some tourism businesses are struggling to open, thanks to most of their customers being cut off by Covid-restricted Auckland, Stuff reports. “As soon as Auckland closes, Northland becomes an island and our market significantly reduces,” says Jeroen Jongejans, operator of Dive! Tutukaka. He encouraged everyone to follow the Covid-19 rules and get vaccinated, to help prevent outbreaks in the critical summer season. “A lot of people are suffering and it’s not an easy time, but I think there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”
