Google stablemate and Vector to create virtual map of Auckland power grid

A new partnership between X, the moonshot factory, formerly Google X, and electricity lines company Vector will see a virtual map of the entire Auckland power grid created. Stuff reports the map is intended to enable Vector to better plan for the city’s growing fleet of electric vehicles and climate change. However, Lance Wiggs​, investment fund manager and candidate for appointment to the Entrust board said the project was not exactly the innovation Auckland needs. Wiggs​ believes Vector should instead focus on its renewable energy infrastructure: “Over the years, Vector has started a lot of projects and done a lot of pilots. What we would like to see is some major roll outs.”
