‘I would rather keep safe’ – Aucklanders prepare for long level 4

Aucklanders are supportive of the prospect of a longer lockdown as new cases continue to erupt during the current Delta outbreak, RNZ reports. Covid-19 modeller Shaun Hendy has warned that the outbreak was much larger than initially suspected and significantly worse than what New Zealand experienced last year. Aucklanders told RNZ they are not worried about a longer lockdown and are more concerned about containing the virus. “I’ve got vulnerable parents and children that I would rather keep safe…” said one person, adding, “I’d rather keep the community safe and especially those that are vulnerable.”
