Strong wind gusts toppled containers at the Ports of Auckland’s Wiri Station Road Storage Facility on Tuesday morning, causing the facility to temporarily close, TVNZ reports. The fallen containers, belonging to Container Co., were seen slumped over like dominoes. Severe gales across the region saw winds reach more than 100km/h, and across the city strong winds blew down trees, knocked branches onto vehicles, blew powerlines down and disrupted travel with debris on roads.
