MIQ Rapunzel: ‘It feels like a prison in here’

Twenty eight year old Ben Vaughan used a rope fashioned from bedsheets to abseil off his MIQ hotel’s balcony on Friday evening, Stuff reports. Vaughan said he made the bold move “after a few drinks”, but stated it was not an attempt to escape the mandatory 14-day confinement. Rather, he was struggling with his mental state. A managed isolation spokeswoman noted, “Managed isolation can be a challenging time, that affects people going through it in different ways, and it sometimes follows what may have been a stressful time in making arrangements to get home.”
