Recent data shows the number of infringements issued by police for breaching liquor ban zones in Wellington and Auckland have decreased by around 75 per cent in the past five years, NZ Herald reports. Figures released under the Official Information Act reveal the number of infringements in Auckland decreased from 1,223 in 2016 to around 300 in 2020. According to a police spokesperson, there is no data or policy change that immediately explains the decrease in the number of Alcohol Sale and Supply infringement offences.
