Work on the regeneration of native forest in Western Springs Lakeside Te Waiōrea has commenced, starting with the removal of 198 exotic pine trees that are unstable and posing a safety risk to the public, Auckland Council announces. The felling of the pines has started using a low impact methodology, with work being overseen by an independent ecologist and arborist. It is expected that the removal of the trees will take up to 10 weeks.
