In a press release issued by Barfoot and Thompson, Auckland residential property market lived up to its reputation of being at its strongest in March, with record prices paid and a record number of homes being sold, Scoop reports. Barfoot & Thompson managing director Peter Thompson said the average price paid in March was $1,107,869. This is up 2.7 percent on the average price for the previous three months, while the median price was $1,048,000 – up 5.1 percent on that for the previous three months. Thompson added that the contributing factor to the stunning sales were 2,138 new listings in a single month – the highest number of new listings in the month of March for 15 years, and about a quarter higher than would normally be listed at this time of the year.
