A man who was shot by police in the Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe on Thursday has died, Newshub reports. Police were called to the Avis Avenue address shortly before 6pm on Thursday, after shots were fired into a neighbouring house. The man was shot and subsequently wounded when he refused to drop the shotgun he was holding. St John staff provided medical care before he was taken to Middlemore Hospital. The Independent Police Conduct Authority has been informed of the incident, and an investigation is underway.
