Hundreds of tourism operators expressed their intent to shut down their businesses this year if things don’t improve, Stuff reports. Just over half of the 923 operators/respondents to the Tourism New Zealand survey in February 2021, said their survival will depend on an upturn in business this year – and that they will have to shut down if this does not happen. The results emphasize the tourism industry’s reliance on the trans-Tasman bubble. 13 percent of respondents say they could only last another three months, while a similar number are able to keep going for three to six months.
