Surveys have revealed that the majority of motorists using the Coatesville-Riverhead Highway in northwest Auckland, strongly oppose the speed reduction, Stuff reports. More than 36,000 speeding fines were issued in six months, following a speed reduction from 80kmh to 60kmh on June 30, 2020. The highway was just one of hundreds of roads where Auckland Transport slashed speed limits in an attempt to reduce the number of crashes causing serious injury and death.
