Authorities have lifted the Tsunami advisory for NZ coastal areas following a 7.7 earthquake near New Caledonia at 2:20 am on Thursday, NZ Herald reports. Nevertheless, Civil Defence said the country can expect strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore. Residents in coastal parts of NZ were warned on Thursday to stay alert for the rest of the day due to potential ‘large unexpected currents.’
