An MIQ staff member at Grand Millennium Hotel in Auckland has been fired, after an “encounter” with an isolated returnee in their room that lasted 20 minutes, RNZ reports. Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said that, based on an investigation, the staff’s behaviour was indeed unacceptable. Meanwhile, the returnee received a formal written warning by police. Both the worker and the returnee returned negative test results before and after the encounter.
