The Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) has justified the fatal shooting of Auckland man Hitesh Lal, Stuff reports. In April 2020, Hitesh Lal went on a rampage with a machete and was shot dead by a police officer on Central Ave in Papatoetoe. According to Counties Manukau District Commander Superintendent Jill Rogers, the police officer was put into a situation where he had no choice but to use a firearm to ensure his own safety.
