Teacher Edwin Downing has been sentenced at the High Court in Auckland to six and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of 11 charges including sexual violation, sexual conduct with a young person and grooming, Stuff reports. Downing is a private school geography teacher in ACG Strathallan, married with a son and living comfortably in suburban South Auckland. According to Justice Neil Campbell, both children abused by Downing have been impacted by the offending. They have told the court that they have issues with trusting men, and one of the children also self-harmed following the abuse.
