Volunteer helps restore Kōwhai Park

Tim Armitage, a local volunteer, is helping restore Warkworth’s Kōwhai Park, which is home to abundant native flora and spectacular trees, reports Auckland Council. Tim targets many invasive tree species, and last November he completed a second pass through most of the reserve. Tim will soon carry out weed control efforts, making him a priority for the Rodney Local Board. Deputy Chair Beth Houlbrooke has praised Tim’s efforts, saying, “Tim is a legend. He’s achieved so much in his first year at Kōwhai Park. His dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspirational.”
