Emergency services descended on west Auckland’s Cornwallis beach on Saturday morning, after a child and adult fell out of a boat. They had been struggling in the water for an hour before they were spotted by a group of kayakers. The kayakers, labelled heroes by an Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesperson, helped the pair get back to shore before emergency services arrived. Both patients were discharged from hospital on Monday.
