Chinese surveillance cameras remain in wide use in New Zealand, RNZ reports, despite renewed controversy about them overseas. The company has repeatedly denied claims that Hikvision equipment being used to suppress human rights or that its cameras are used for ethnic profiling.Thousands of Hikvision CCTV cameras are installed in the country at schools, businesses, councils and government agencies. Auckland Transport alone has hundreds of Hikvision cameras providing live feeds, but says it is not buying any more.
