A Waikato tradie has been labelled a hero after pulling in front of a blacked-out truck driver who was swerving near the Drury offramp of Auckland’s Southern Motorway, Stuff reports, preventing a larger crash. Concrete cutter and driller Kurt Patten pulled in front of the truck, put his brakes on and waited for the truck to crash into the back of him, which it did. A Custom Concrete Cutters spokesperson said the company was “incredibly proud” of Patten. “He put himself in harm’s way to prevent something that could have gone terribly wrong.”
