Every year Aotearoa’s eels make an epic journey to breed in the Pacific Ocean. But eels living in dams need a helping hand, Stuff reports. Watercare dam technicians Christian Stockle and Chris Oord assist eels in the Lower Nihotupu Dam in Auckland’s Waitākere Ranges. The eels are then taken to an estuary on the Manukau Harbour, where there’s a good mixture of fresh and salt water, to help them adjust.
