Neighbours had been complaining about squatters living in an empty Auckland Council building for years before an alleged arson attack saw it go up in flames, Stuff reveals. Only a charred husk of the two-storey office building remains, but those who live and work nearby said it was a disaster waiting to happen. The building belongs to council-controlled organisation Eke Panuku​ and has stood vacant since 2017 when it was last used.
