Auckland is cementing itself as one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Stuff reveals, with one in four residents being born overseas. The NowNext Pou Tiaki survey has found most Aucklanders enjoy the diversity of the city, but many migrants still feel discriminated against. Nearly twice as many Aucklanders experienced discrimination based on the country they are from (27%) compared to 15% across New Zealand. By 2038, New Zealand’s largest city will be a ‘superdiverse’ city, rivalling other diverse cities such as Toronto and Singapore.
