Auckland’s Aotea Centre has a new look following a $67.5 million refurbishment, Stuff reveals. The four-year project, which began as a bid to weatherproof the building, morphed into a project to modernise the dark and dated interior too. Originally to house heritage arts like ballet and opera, the building felt closed off and private. Now, the space had been cracked open to introduce “oxygen and light” to the building, says Auckland Unlimited head of programming and presenter services Bernie Haldane.
