Auckland ratepayers will pick up the cost of extending the government’s half-price public transport fare initiative to passengers on the Devonport ferry route, Stuff reports, but services to Waiheke Island will remain at full fares. The side deal followed a terse letter from a “hacked off” transport minister Michael Wood in which he told ferry operator Fullers360 that its Devonport and Waiheke Island runs didn’t qualify for the three-month cut.
