Businessman Wayne Brown, styling himself as “The Fixer”, has launched his Auckland mayoral campaign with a swingeing attack on the council and its agencies, Stuff reports, but has not offered a view on rate levels. Brown told a business audience in Avondale on Tuesday, the council and its agencies were “top-heavy with overpaid managers who waste money everywhere”. The former chair of several publicly-owned enterprises delivered a 40-minute address rich with judgements on how things should be done, largely in “five big engineering-oriented cost control hits”.
