Science does not sit in splendid isolation

The University of Auckland’s Julie Rowland examines the notion on Newsroom that education should be secular and devoid of any form of spirituality. Commentators have depicted the practice and learning of science as facing an existential threat in Aotearoa/New Zealand due to the braiding of mātauranga Māori into institutional mores and curricula. But it’s people who do science, and people and their culture/s are inseparable.
