Fire crews in the Far North have contained a 70 hectare vegetation fire on the Karikari Peninsula, Stuff reports. Five helicopters and seven ground crews worked to control the fire on Monday afternoon. The fire was burning on conservation land, and no homes or buildings were believed to be at risk. The cause of the fire had not yet been identified, but it was believed it began near a lay-by on Inland Rd.
