As trials resume, 80% of Aucklanders called for jury service fail to show

Only 20% of those called for jury service at the Auckland District Court actually turned up as the first day of jury trials resumed under Covid-19 restrictions, Stuff reports. Of the 800 people on the electoral roll in the Auckland area who were contacted, only 180 responded and about 160 followed through. Courts across the country are operating under a protocol that requires people to show vaccine passes or proof of a recent negative Covid-19 test.
